January
10, 2004 :: The band The Postal Service has done much to romanticize the
mail,
or at least the idea of the mail recently. I must admit, I got foggy-eyed
a few years back
when watching Kevin Costner's The Postman. However, nice notions aside,
it is still slow
and unpredictable.
I've been recording my shows while up at school in Vancouver, then sending
them down.
Initial tests seemed to indicate that if I sent it on Tuesday morning,
it could be to the station
by Friday afternoon, one full day before it airs. However, this no longer
seems to be true.
During Christmas, it took more than two weeks to get there. I sent my
latest show on
Tuesday, this time Express Mail, and called Sloburn, the dj before (who
has been a good
man to put my show on for me each week), and lo and behold, no cd had
arrived at the
station. So, he graciously put on a recorded show of mine from a few weeks
ago.
Hopefully we'll figure out a better way to get these shows to y'all. If
not, I'm going
to go postal.
